Full-time Instructor My primary research interest is in the mediated communication produced and consumed by traditionally marginalized groups. In this vein I have conducted research on the communication practices of Ghanaian Pentecostal immigrants as well as on mass media aimed at children. My dissertation, "Media and Religion in the Ghanaian Pentecostal Diaspora,” analyzes vernacular rhetoric in postcards, emails and text messages produced by Ghanaian Pentecostal pastors in Colorado. I find that beyond evangelism, these products are key tools in the process of identity formation and social positioning in diaspora.
